Home Construction

Building a new home isn’t easy, that’s okay – we’re professionals.

With decades of real world experience we’ve learned to incorporate some of the most advanced residential construction techniques and processes available to home builders today.

A quality, well built home for you and your family

Here are just a few of the home construction best practices we utilize during the construction of your new home:

  • All interior and exterior walls, ceiling joists and rafters are framed 16 inches on center, everywhere we build, every time!

This significantly increases the structural integrity of your home, whereas some of the most well-known custom builders stretch this to minimum code requirements and only frame on 20 and even 24 inch centers.

  • All shingles are HAND NAILED. Unlike most builders, our craftsmen do not use nail guns to install your shingles.

This practice ensures the nail head is snug and secure against the shingle leaving you with a roof built to last! The high air pressure put out by nail guns can cause the head of the nail to “blow through” your shingle leaving you in a not so “snug and secure” situation.

  • Two forms of exterior sheathing are used: 7/16” Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and DuPont -Tyvek® Thermawrap® with additional R-2 value.

Most builders save the OSB wrap for windstorm areas only and use inferior “foam” type products as a moisture barrier. Not us. Walter Grey Homes builds high quality, lasting construction, everytime.
